2012 March Newsletter

March 2012
Volume II, Issue VII

KEYWORDS:

This is get down to business month, where the grind begins to turn up a notch. All the recent activities are over and recital is No. 1 on the list.  Teachers will be asking you to bring your children to class every week, without fail. This will help the teachers complete their routine tasks in their classes. They will probably be contacting you regarding this, and I hope you will be cooperative with them and do as they ask. We want the children to do a good job in the recital, but they can not do this if you don’t do your job of getting them to class.  We have had a good winter, weather wise, and now spring is fast approaching, so there will be no excuse for absent students.  PLEASE READ ALL PAGES OF THE NEWSLETTER IN ORDER TO KEEP UP WITH ANY SCHOOL ACTIVITIES INFORMATION, AND RECITAL NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS.  Please ask questions about upcoming events if you are not clear on anything. Stay abreast by reading the newsletter each month.

ADS CONTEST

Soliciting for ads has begun and you may turn in ads as you get them. The ads contest has begun also, so if you are participating in the contest to win free dance lessons, please turn your reports over to Ms. June, ONLY. Otherwise, any ads for the program booklet should be turned in to the office. Make sure every ad is legible and easy for printer to read. This will keep down mistakes. Ads information sheets are attached to this newsletter, so please keep this information, you will need it for future reference of dates and information for the recital. We would like to see all students with complimentary ads to them for their hard work. Copies of previous program booklets are available in the office. Ask for a copy to use to solicit for ads.

RECITAL FEES/PHOTO SHOOT

Recital fees are coming in very slow. These fees are used to pay on recital expenses, which are now due. I would appreciate everyone putting forth an effort to pay these fees, since they were due in November. As I told you before, the “photo shoot” is set for the second Tuesday in May. Please clear your calendars so your child will be able to take pictures for the program booklet. IF ALL DANCE AND RECITAL FEES ARE NOT PAID UP BY THIS DATE, YOUR CHILD WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR COSTUMES UNTIL AFTER THE “PHOTO SHOOT”, AND WILL THEREFORE NOT BE IN THEIR CLASS PICTURE IN THE PROGRAM BOOKLET. Your child will receive their costumes when all fees are paid up to date. Please do not be one of these people, get your monies in NOW.

END-OF-YEAR OUTING

The studio will be going to World’s of Fun again this year. The special offer presented to us ends on March 15, 2012, so I have decided to go with that offer. I believe everyone had an exciting and full day at World’s of Fun last year, so I am sure they will enjoy it once again. Our fundraiser took longer than as expected, so unless we do something else, the parents will have to pay their own admissions. You will receive more information later regarding the catered lunch. It will be held the following Saturday after the recital.

A FEW FUN IDEAS

I mentioned a few fund ideas you might consider for fun and fellowship, and/or fundraising. The things I mentioned are: Bake Sale, Chili Cook-Off, Fish Fry, Car Wash, and Garage Sale. Board and card games can be incorporated with any of these events.  Are you interested in any of these ideas?  Let me know.

DANCE FEES

All regular dance fees should be paid monthly, on time. After the 15th of each month, please add a $5.00 late fee to your payment. Fees should never surpass two months.  Delinquent lists are always posted, so there is no reason why you should wonder how much you owe. Also, if you make a payment and end up with a balance, or if you end up paying a partial payment into the next month, please make sure you make your next payment to straighten out your balance. It is difficult when you stay in a partial payment situation for two or more months.

DANCE QUOTE

“Most dancers will get caught up in the comparison trap at some point. It’s natural to look at your competition, but if you’re focused on other people, you’re not focused on what you need to do to dance well. Set goals for yourself and remember that no one can dance exactly the way you do. Keep the focus on you”. – Dr. Jim Taylor, author of ‘Psychology of Dance’.
