KEYDANCER
September/October, 2015
Volume VI, Issue I

KEYWORDS:

"WELCOME BACK EVERYONE", old students, new students, parents and teachers. We are ready to start a new year of dance fun, and I hope you are raring to go. So far, everything is moving along nicely, but a little slow in enrollment. However, October seems to be the month old students are returning to class.

This will be an exciting year, because we plan to have a "reunion" recital, where we look forward to all of you and many former students return for our banquet and recital. Also, after this year, Ms. Wilda will be leaving to go to Atlanta, Georgia to live with her daughter, so we will honor her many years of service also.
There will be much information regarding this as the year moves forward.

I will start a three to five year transition toward finding a good Artistic Director to run my studio so that all the students will be able to continue to get good instruction as they progress. As a part of developing toward strengthening community and studio relationships, we will begin to partner with the Creative Movements Dance Studio in various workshops, classes and activities. Teachers from both schools will work together on various projects. Ms. DeShonte Cobin is the Artistic Director of the Creative Movements studio, and a former dance student of mine, and she is an excellent instructor, with a great passion for dance. She also has  competitive dance classes who win dance trophies, which means she is very knowledgeable in the field of dance and continues to learn any new dance trends. This is where my students will go if I can not find a good director who is dedicated and has a passion for dance to run this school. Our first effort together will be a tap workshop which will be held here at our studio on Sunday, November 22, 2015, and will be only for the Secondary II, Intermediates and advanced students of both studios. I ask for your complete support as we move forward in all our partnering endeavors.

I hope everyone has a fun dance year, and look forward to all the exciting things coming up in the future.  AGAIN, WELCOME TO YOU ALL!

June Neal Key
Executive Artistic Director

NEWSLETTERS

The newsletter is your main source of studio information, so please read the entire newsletter each month for all announcements for upcoming events and special announcements. We have the Kiddies' Corner where we  feature anything you wish to share with us about your child's activities at school, church, good grade cards, etc.     The deadline for news is the last week of each month.

COSTUME AND RECITAL FEES

Costume and recital fees are two separate fees. Costumes fees are due by October 31, 2015, and recital fees are due by November 30, 2015. You will find this information on the first page of your studio contract and agreement. Please check the deadline dates. If you have questions, please see one of the office assistants.  The costume order will be mailed no later than December 21, 2015. Costumes should all be back by the end of April. Any late orders will have to be sent my January 15, 2016 in order to get back. However, we can not promise you they will be back in time for our costume "photo shoot". Please start making payments now.

OBSERVATION DAY

The first week of November will be the first observation day for parents to sit in the dance room and watch their children dance in class. This will start on Monday, November 2, 2015 thru Saturday, November 7, 2015. Our next observation day will be on Monday, February 1, 2016 thru Saturday, February 6, 2015. Please mark your calendars accordingly, now.

NEW INSTRUCTOR

Daijah Moore, one of our dance students, is working as acrobatic instructor assistant this year. We all want to congratulate her and wish her well as she works toward learning the art of teaching. The students like her and she seems to enjoy working with them. She is in a local college now, but will be going away to school next year. Welcome, Daijah!
FYI

We are trying to located as many former students as we can to include on our alumni mailing list for this year's "reunion recital and banquet". If you know anyone who has been a student at the June Neal Dance Studio, please get  their name, address, phone number and email address and bring it to the office. We would appreciate your help in helping us locate any former students that you know so we can contact them to inform them of the upcoming reunion events.
