KEYWORDS:
Hello everyone! This is a busy month in more ways than one. We start out cheering for our team at the Super Bowl game. Then along comes Valentine’s Day where we can spread a little love to our favorite people. We also celebrate our President and past presidents on President’s Day. By the way, we really need to stand by our President during this time, because he needs our votes and support more than ever. He only has one more chance to be President, and with God’s help and our support, I believe he will be able to accomplish what he was put there to do in the first place. He will leave a legacy that we all can be proud of. This whole month is important to us all because we celebrate our heritage and our Black history. Our students get to perform outside the studio in Black History programs, and our acrobatic students are still competing in acrobatic meets. I am very proud to have had a part in helping your children grow. We all have a lot to be proud of, and a lot to be thankful for. Love life and it will love you back!

NATIONAL ACROBATIC COMPETITION
CONGRATULATIONS!!! All 19 of the acrobatic students placed in the NAC meet in January. They will all compete again February 11, 2012 . All winners will compete in the Championship meet on March 3, 2012 . I am especially proud of my new 4 to 6 year olds this year, because they have come a long way since July when most of them started. Most of them could do very little then. I love teaching students to do something they never knew how to do, or never thought they could do. And it is always a pleasure to watch the parents of these children as they see their children progress and doing well. GOOD LUCK TO ALL! Watch for the posting of the winners.
ADS CONTEST BEGINS
The ads contest officially begins this month. There are three winners, and the contest winners win free dance lessons; full year, half year and quarter of a year free lessons. If you are interested in being in the contest, please leave your name in the office. All contest participants should make their reports to Ms. June only. This is the way that no one will know how much money you are turning in. You may start now soliciting for ads. See the ads information on separate form and keep for your perusal.
RECITAL FEE
In last month’s newsletter, I asked everyone to pay their recital fees by the end of January. The list is still too long, which means you ignored the request. Please pay your recital fees by the end of this month. Many of you wait until the “photo shoot” to try to pay your fees up because you know your child will not be able to get their costumes to take the class group picture which goes in the recital program booklet, until after the photo shoot is over. Please do not wait until the end of April to pay the recital fee. THESE FEES ARE DUE NOW.
END–OF-YEAR OUTING
I have received a communication from World’s of Fun for another outing this year. The fee has gone up $5.00 from last year, but they have offered us a special price which has to be honored by March 15, 2012 , if we are interested. We have only done one fundraiser, which everyone still has not reported, but we will have enough for the children, but not the parents. We still can do the trash bag sale, as there are persons asking for trash bags and wanting to know if we are selling them this year, if you would like to raise money to help with the parent’s fee. I would like some feedback regarding whether you want to go back to World’s of Fun, and if you want to do another fundraiser to help pay on the parent’s ticket. If you have another idea for an outing, please let us know ASAP.
A FEW FUN IDEAS
I have a few fun ideas we can do for fun and fellowship, and/or fundraising. Tell me what you think about these things to do during the Saturday classes: Bake Sale, Chili Cook-Off, Fish Fry, and Garage Sale. You can add playing card or board games with any of these things. Just some ideas! I need feedback.
KIDS KORNER
ANNIKA GARCIA – Annika has completed her first semester of First Grade with a ‘BANG”. She was Student of the Week in October and November, and received a Star Award for Academic Improvement. Annika participated in the Mark Twain talent show. She choreographed her own routine to “Whip My Hair”, and it was a hit. She and her parents are looking forward to this next semester being even better. Keep up the good work Annika, we are all proud of you.
JALYNN SMITH – Jalynn participated in a series of three fashion shows for the American Girl Doll on October 2, 2011 , held at the Marriott Hotel in Overland Park , Kansas . She wore the clothing of the “Addy” doll, and carried the doll wearing the same clothing. She did a great job and we are all proud of her being a part of such an event.
Ms. Tiffany’s 6:30 Monday Class will perform in a Black History program on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Southside First Baptist Church in Kansas City , Missouri . The theme is the program is “Then and Now”. Our students will perform a tap routine. We applaud our Secondary students for going out and representing our studio in such a positive manner.
DANCE FEES
All regular dance fees should be paid within each month. After the 15th of each month, if your fees have not been paid, you should automatically add $5.00 to your fee. A few of you still forget to do this. When you forget it, it comes out of your next payment anyway. Fees should never be past two months in arrears. Please get on track if you are not. The delinquent lists are always posted, so there is no need to wonder how much you owe. The lists are always up to the previous month, so you have to add your current month to it to be paid up.

DANCE QUOTES
Victoria Page, ballet dancer in the classic film “The Red Shoes” was asked this question: “Why do you want to dance?” Her famous answer: “Why do you want to live?” Here are some answers to that same question by other dancers:
“I dance because it makes me feel better, No mater what else is going on in my life. It never lets me down.”
“I dance because it makes me feel completely free.”
“I dance because it’s the only thing that can make the world stop. It brings passion to my life.”
“I dance because it’s like oxygen. I just need it.”
“You know what they say: If you have to ask, you won’t understand.”
“I dance because it’s good for my mind, body, heart and soul.”
“I dance to express what the mouth can’t say…to paint a visual picture.”
“Why do you breathe?”
If your thoughts and feelings fall in line with any of these, you just might have what it takes to be a real dancer. These are quotes taken from the Dance Teacher Magazine.
