KEYWORDS:

We are going into a new year, and what that means is, we are going to do a new thing, a better thing, hoping it will turn out to be a great thing!  I hope you all had a happy holiday vacation and are now ready to get down to business as we gear up for our recital in June. The Christmas party was certainly a lot of fun and I sincerely hope everyone enjoyed it. In the spirit of giving, we tried to make sure that everyone got a gift by the end of the party.  That was an inspiration I got from watching Oprah give gifts to people. I am not as fortunate as Oprah, but my office staff, teachers and I, certainly tried to do what we could. I have a dedicated staff of people, who want to do whatever it takes to bring some happiness to our students whenever we can.  I resolve to make this year even better than last year, and with your help, support, cooperation and participation, we can do just that.  WELCOME BACK AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the students and parents.

June Neal Key
Executive Artistic Director

NATIONAL ACROBATIC COMPETITION

The acrobatic classes will be participating in meets on January 21st and February 11th.  Nineteen students will participate in various levels to compete for the top six awards in their level. Our youngest participant is 4 years old, and our oldest is 14 years old; and we are hoping that everyone comes out a winner. They are all working as hard as they can to do just that. Let’s all support them and wish them the best of luck.

DANCE FEE AND RECITAL FEE

All monthly dance fees should be paid up each month, but if they are not, the delinquent fee, late fee, and the current monthly fee should be paid up by the end of that month. For those interested in credit card payments, please contact the office and put your name on a list as soon as possible. This is a very beneficial method of making your payments on time.

The first costume order has been sent, and I have heard from two of the companies already. At least one costume, so far, will not be delivered until the first of May, which is after my delivery deadline date of April 15th.  Therefore, I am hoping that those who are to be in the second order, will be in the order that I will be sending on January 12th,  which I can’t say will get back before May 1st , either. But they may get here by the “photo shoot”.  If you are not in this order, any costumes ordered after this will not be back for the “photo shoot” for certain.

CANDY PROJECT

Our candy project did not move as swiftly as we had planned.  I did not plan on this project lasting three months. However, I would like to do one more fund raiser.  I am asking that you get your outstanding reports in now.

KIDS’ KORNER

With all the students that attend here, I should have something in this section every month. If you are proud of something that your child/children have done recently, please send it in. We would like to know about it.

DANCE QUOTE

“Personal experience and skills are a plus, but having a good eye and understanding the physical needs of the students standing in front of you is what’s most essential. Of course, having a clear guideline and well-thought-out syllabus of what material to teach is a big help.  Ultimately, that’s when good teaching happens.”--  Elaine Bauer, Teacher at Pacific Northwest Ballet

UPCOMING OBSERVATION DAY

Your next observation day to visit your child/children’s dance class will be during the first week of February starting on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 through February 6, 2012. Teachers should make sure to remind the parents of this, in case they forget.
