WELCOME!  WELCOME!  WELCOME!
TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND PARENTS

The June Neal Dance Studio welcomes you all back for this new 2014-2015 dance year, and we extend a hearty welcome to all of new students who have joined us. I am always excited for what the new year brings, and I am looking forward to a great year of dancing. I hope the students are ready for the challenges ahead, and the parents looking for wonderful things from their children. Each year we try to do new and better things for the progress of our school, so you may encounter some new changes. We got off to a slow start, but things are picking up as we continue to grow. I have some exciting plans for the students aside from their dance classes, and look forward to the participation and cooperation of both the students and the parents. We have one new teacher in the Junior Division, Ms. Melody Roberts, who will be teaching ballet and modern dance classes. All the teachers are happy to see you and are excited about the work they have planned for this year's classes.

Once again, I welcome you all back, and may God bless each and every one of you during this dance year. Let's try to make this a great year.

June Neal Key
Executive Artistic Director

DANCE QUOTE

Safe, Sensational Flexibility - "Perhaps most importantly, strength building should go hand in hand with stretching. 'Flexibility' is that length in the muscle that we all want to achieve, but functional flexibility is having the muscular support and the joint stability to hold that position."  Tips for proper stretching: (1) Warm up for 5 to 10 minutes before stretching for class. (Try jogging place or doing jumping jacks); (2) Before class, do not hold a stretch longer than 15 seconds; (3) After class is when you will gain the most flexibility. You can safely hold stretches then for 30-60 seconds; (4) Never hold stretches for more than 60 seconds, because the muscles will cool down too much." -  Leigh Heflin of Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at New York University Langone Medical Center, and Kathleen McGuire, dancer and frequent article contributor to Dance Teacher Magazine.
