March, 2013
Volume III, Issue VI
KEYWORDS:
March is here already,
and I hope it will bring us good weather.
Our students should be well into their recital routines now; and, the
acrobatic students excelled at the
championship meet, which makes us very proud. Everything is going to
start getting pretty busy as we gradually move toward our annual recital. I hope
that all parents will work very hard to see that their children keep good
attendance in their classes during this time, and keep up with all
announcements and information given to you in the monthly newsletter. It
surprises me that I have not received any activity information about any
students regarding church, school or outside activities. Does that mean that
dancing is the only thing that they do? I just know that most parents like to brag
about their children, if they have done anything, or received anything special.
Please pay attention
to all requests from our teachers regarding the recital. You will be receiving
accessories lists, if you haven't received them yet; and you may have to bring
them to some makeup lessons, since we have had a few bad weather days. Make
sure they attend those classes, also. Remember to 'spring forward' (turn your
clocks one hour ahead) when daylight savings time begins March 10th.

END-OF-YEAR
EVENT
The candy sale is
underway, and reports are coming in. Lets make a profit this time. I
have been looking for another fun spot for our end-of-year event that we might
be able to afford. I have basic information about the Power
Play Entertainment
Center at 13110 W. 62nd Terrace in Shawnee , Kansas .
The package offered that we might be able to afford includes the one-time
all-you-can eat Buffet, a choice of 4 game
attractions and 40 Points on games. The game
attractions to choose from includes Cosmic Bowling, Go-Karts, Laser Tag, Laser
Maze, Bumper Cars, Ropes Course, and Tilt-a-Whirl. We will have the Field House
Room for one and one-half hours free, which we can use for our meal time. The
buffet, which is located just outside the Field House Room, has all kinds of
food, desserts, and drinks. This entertainment center has games and attractions
for all ages for the full day. You can leave when you like. I will have more information
later, provided we make enough profit to go. Also, I would like your input on
whether to have our end-of-the-year event the week after the recital, or at the
end of the dance year at the end of July. . Please turn into the office your
four choices of attractions, and your input on when you would like to have our
event by the end of March so that final arrangements can be made
with the facility. Our final selections of choices sent in will be decided by
majority vote.

DANCE
QUOTE
"When
dancers just take class and run through
their routines, they develop stamina specifically for that routine and their bodies get used to
it. They need other activity, such as running, rowing, or swimming, to keep
their bodies in their most ideal and efficient form. Dancers who get to the top
spots , are the ones who keep themselves in shape. They just can't take a month
off in August. Consistency will help students maintain their bodies throughout
slow periods during the summer."

Principal Dancer with Pennsylvania
Ballet.
