KEYWORDS:
This is the Month of May, and boy is it going to be busy. Everybody should be getting real excited about the recital. I am expecting the students to do a good job. The photo shoot went pretty well. By that, I mean most of the students were present to take pictures, and that means most students will be in the class pictures in the recital booklet. Thanks to all the parents for cooperating by getting fees paid. Now, let’s see how good a job you do by congratulating your children in an ad in the recital program booklet. Just to know your parents think enough of you to let people know how proud they are of you is a big thing for them. I AM STILL ASKING YOU TO READ THIS ENTIRE NEWSLETTER FOR IMPORTANT STUDIO INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND ANY RECITAL NEWS FOR YOUR CHILDREN. Also, be sure to ask questions now, not the week of the recital.

I encourage you to invite someone to come see you get an award.
ADS & ADS CONTEST
Students have been bringing in their ads, and those who are in the ads contest have started competing to win a prize. Remember, those who are in the contest should give their ads report to Ms. June only, instead of turning them in to the office. I hope parents will consider their child/children’s feelings and congratulate them in an ad. Our program booklet is somewhat like a yearbook, since it has pictures of the students and complimentary ads along with the regular program and announcements. Everyone do your best. Absolute deadline date is May 15, 2012.

TRASH BAG SALE
The trash bag sale is almost done. There are still a few more reports to come in so I still do not know how much a parent will have to pay for the after school activity at World’s of Fun. I hope to be able to tell you that in the next newsletter.
WORLD’S OF FUN ACTIVITY
The World’s of Fun outing is scheduled for Saturday, June 23, 2012. We will meet at the park at 10:00 a.m. where everyone will pick up their tickets at the ticket window. That means everyone should start signing up on three different lists. A list for the students, so we will know how many student tickets to purchase. A parent list so we will be able to know how many parents we will have to pay partial ticket prices for. And, a guest list for any other persons you have asked to go with you. A child’s ticket is for children 4 feet tall or shorter. Children under two years of age are free. If you have a large 2 year old, please bring some identification, rather than argue with the people at the ticket window, because they do not know you to believe your word. These are the ticket prices, which include a meal: Adults - $32.00, Children - $26.00. Measure your children before you turn in their name so we will know what price ticket to purchase for them. This proved to be a very fun trip last year, so get ready to have a fun day.
FEES
All dance fees should be kept current through July. PLEASE PAY JUNE DANCE FEES BEFOE THE RECITAL. If you do you will not incur a late fee for June. Dance fees are due at the first of the month, and a $5.00 late fee should be added if the payment is made after the 15th of the month. The delinquent list is always posted, so look at it if you know you have not paid fees yet. The week following the recital is our outing, and we will not be bookkeeping at the park. ANYONE STILL OWING FOR RECITAL FEES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM IN THE RECITAL WITHOUT PAYING IT.
SCHOLARSHIP RAFFLE
Scholarship raffle tickets will be dispersed soon, and all students will be responsible for 20 tickets. Everyone should pay for those 20 tickets in advance. This is the only project that replenishes the scholarship fund, so do your best. The raffle will be held the night of the recital.

DANCE QUOTE
This comes from an article entitled “A show of Hands” that explains that the way you use your hands can transform your dancing.
“The way you use your hands when you dance, and especially in ballet, can make or break your body line. The cardinal rule—hands should enhance your dancing, not distract from it—it is simple enough. All of the dance styles agree on one point: The hands should be expressive, something most students forget. The best way to develop good hands is to be aware of how you’re using them right from the beginning. Even when you’re starting your preparation at the barre, think about how you’re holding your fingers. It doesn’t come automatically—but it will, with practice.” – DanceSpirit Magazine
